Colour Changing Magic Experiment
This experiment is so much fun! Here is what you need:
- Juiced lemon (or citric acid or both)
- Blue Botanical Colour Powder from our Nature Craft Kit
- Jug with 1 litre of water
- 3 or more clear glasses and a spoon
All you need to do is tint the water blue (you only need a pinch of the colour powder) and fill up the glasses with the blue water. Then let the kids experiment with the lemon juice, adding a little to one glass, and a bit more to another glass.
You can also add different amounts of citric acid powder to the different glasses (leave one glass blue as is). You should end up with all sorts of different shades of pink/purple/blues as the pH levels in all glasses end up slightly different - MAGIC!
We went on and used the coloured water for potion play - just add some of our Magic Potion Fizzy Powder to a bowl and slowly add the water to it to create an awesome fizzy reaction.
Note: Although all materials are natural, please always remind kids to not put anything in their mouths and to wash their hands after any nature craft projects/experiments. Adult supervision is required and please also keep the materials away from pets.
